Enjoying the Festival Experience Without Breaking the Bank

As the second weekend of Coachella draws to a close, I wanted to provide resources for people who wish to explore the desert in a more sustainable and mindful manner. While the festival lineup may be enticing, enduring the crowds and heat may not be worthwhile unless you are willing to purchase VIP tickets and spend a significant amount of money.

There were rumors that Frank Ocean's live stream was canceled and it was announced he would not perform during the second weekend. However, it appears that we didn't miss much. On a positive note, Blink 182 made a comeback at the festival despite the Super Rich Kids controversy not being live streamed.

Just a reminder that in this age of technology, you don't have to spend your life savings or endure crowds to enjoy a festival like Coachella. You can watch the live stream from the comfort of your own home in high definition without having to sacrifice a thing. While we appreciate seeing all your stories, watching these live streams is just more convenient and sustainable.

The Coachella Music Festival features several stages, each with its own unique theme and design - many which reflect the names of deserts around the world. While the Yuma and Mojave tents may not have been the site for headlining acts, its energy and rhythm were unbeatable, making them festival favorites.

Sleep Under the Stars 🌌

As many festivals take place in Indio throughout the year, we encourage organizers to promote sustainability by reusing activities and art installations from previous events. This can help reduce waste and promote a more eco-friendly approach to festival planning.

For those of us who prefer a quieter desert experience, check out Auto Camp and their outdoor Airstream options where “two deserts meet” in Joshua Tree National Park. The desert can be challenging, but these camper options are sure to make your experience more enjoyable!

Tips for Sustainable Desert Exploration 🏜

Exploring the desert can be a fantastic adventure, but it is important to do so in a sustainable way to minimize the impact on the environment. Here are some tips for sustainable desert exploration:

  1. Plan ahead: Before heading out to the desert, research the area you will be visiting and plan your trip accordingly. Make sure you have enough water, food, and supplies to last for the duration of your trip.

  2. Travel lightly: When packing for your trip, try to bring only what you need. This will reduce the amount of waste you produce and make it easier to carry everything with you.

  3. Stay on designated trails: Stick to designated trails and avoid creating new ones. This will minimize the impact on the environment and help preserve the natural landscape.

  4. Leave no trace: Pack out everything you bring with you, including food waste, toilet paper, and other trash. Leave the area cleaner than you found it.

  5. Respect wildlife: Keep a safe distance from wildlife and do not disturb their habitats. Do not feed wildlife or leave food out, as this can disrupt their natural behaviors.

  6. Conserve water: In the desert, water is a precious resource. Use it sparingly and consider bringing a water filter to purify water from natural sources.

  7. Be mindful of fire: In dry desert conditions, fires can quickly get out of control. Follow fire restrictions and use designated fire rings or stoves.

By following these tips, you can enjoy a sustainable and responsible desert exploration experience.

A reminder to keep us wild.

It's easy to get caught up in the fast-paced, technology-driven world around us, but it's important to take a step back and appreciate the beauty and power of our natural world. Spend time outdoors, whether it's hiking in the mountains, swimming in the ocean, or simply sitting in a park. Let the sights, sounds, and smells of nature fill your senses and remind you of your place in the world.

In addition, stay true to yourself and your passions. Don't be afraid to pursue your dreams, even if they seem unconventional or risky. Embrace your unique qualities and let them shine through in everything you do. Finally, surround yourself with people who support and encourage you to be your best self. These practices will help keep you connected to your wild side and live a fulfilling, authentic life.

That’s all for now…until next time!
